Intro to Citizen Journalism with Donna Liu, founder of AllPrinceton.com

What if all the news about Princeton were reported by the people who know Princeton best? What if you could become a reporter for a Princeton news publisher? Sign up now for the AllPrinceton Journalism Workshop and learn:
- how to report on the local events and issues you care about most
- how to craft that reporting into a multimedia story
- how to publish that story to AllPrinceton.com, a new collaborative multimedia site for the residents of Princeton NJ
This 1-1/2 hour free workshop on the basics of multimedia reporting and publishing will be led by Donna Liu, Founder of AllPrinceton.com, founder the UChannel project, and a former CNN International producer at Princeton Community Television and Digital Media Center.

Camera Basics

A 1-1/2 hour required class for anyone wishing to borrow field equipment. We will review proper care of the cameras, how to start shooting, how to reserve a camera.
This class is held the first Wednesday of each month.

Editing 101

A great start to learn the technical aspects of telling a story with industry standard software, Final Cut Pro. Learn how to:
- organize your media
- trim clips so you tell the story you want to tell
-add photos and music to enhance your story

Lighting 101
Monday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m.
This course will cover proper instruction in set up, break down and handling professional lighting equipment. Participants will learn to how to set up the equipment for an interview situation.
Beginner level

Lighting Beyond the Basics
Saturday, December 4, 1:00-5:00 p.m
This class is designed for anyone who would like to improve your technique in any lighting situation. Bring a photo of lighting you’d like to try. We will attempt to recreate it.

About Lawrence Roth
While attending Columbia College in Chicago, Lawrence got his first taste of film as a production assistant for a couple of the big crowd shots on Ferris Buellers Day Off. After graduation, Lawrence worked on lighting crews for films, The Untouchables, Crime Story and She’s Having a Baby.
He has worked with Janusz Kaminski (currently Steven Spielberg’s Director of Photography), Wally Pfister (Batman) and Mauro Fiore (Training Day).
He has also been the lighting director for many television shows and commercials including pilots of the Osbournes, Wife Swap and Trading Spaces.
Most recently, Lawrence has served as lighting director on the Dr. Phil House, 48 Hours, ESPN's 30 for 30 documentary series and CBS’s Lucky to be Alive.
