The Anne B. Shepherd Lecture Series
What could be a richer or more fascinating subject to explore than the history of books? In this series, eight scholars share with us their knowledge and enthusiasm for a new field of study - the history of books and readers. We begin with an overview of book history, and follow with topics that include the creation of two great religious texts - the Bible and the Koran - an unexpected use of those beautiful, medieval Books of Hours, the origins of modern journalism, the role of the critic and the changes that paperback publishing brought to the world of books.
This lecture series was co-sponsored by the Princeton Adult School and the Community Auditing Program of Princeton University’s Office of Community and State Affairs.
